Life's ups and downs can be challenging. Yoga offers practical tools for managing mood and emotion, helping bring stability, clarity of mind and relaxation.
Yoga postures release tensions from the body. Yogic breathing rebalances the nervous system. Yoga nidra induces deep relaxation of body, mind and emotions. Meditation trains you to observe your thoughts, reactions and feelings, taking a step back and recognising that you can take control and manage your own mental patterns.
Yoga for Mood Management is a 10-week course that guides you through a selection of yoga practices, attitudes and understandings to relieve stress, anxiety, depression, mood swings, panic, insomnia and posttraumatic stress .
Ahimsa will be your teacher. She has more than a decade of teaching yoga to war veterans and other struggling with life. Start date is Wednesday 10th Feb, 7.30-9pm at Yoga North Hobart. All details and enrolment at www.gangesyoga.net
I just came across this article on the Yoga Australia blog. https://www.yogaaustralia.org.au/yoga-helps-war-veterans-with-post-traumatic-stress-disorder/
The book I'm publishing is based on more than a decade of teaching yoga to war veterans and seeing the results - lives transformed from despair to happiness, lives saved, families and relationships restoried. To help further this work I'm crowdfunding to publish Hope: How Yoga Heals the Scars of Trauma. Your donation will help.
“It’s hard to find someone who really ‘gets you’ when you have PTSD. It’s often an emotional rollercoaster ride and yet, there is a pathway to recovery which is beautifully and simply articulated in Hope: How Yoga Heals the Scars of Trauma. Ahimsa ‘gets you’ – and then she leads you gently and confidently into reclaiming your life and your peace of mind.
If you want to begin or continue this journey towards healing and wholeness you might like to join Ahimsa on our Healing Your Life: Moving Beyond Trauma retreat in April at the Quest for Life Centre in Bundanoon.”

Here's an article that was recently published in the local press (Hobart, Australia) about my work with the war veterans.
In Colombia yoga is being used to rehabilitate ex-guerillas and militants and to heal victims after more than 50 years of civil war. Yoga is a powerful tool for peacebuilding.
"One is like leather that gets hardened with the years. There may be tough stuff, but it can be overcome. I am overcoming everything with my family, doing yoga. It is like a soft balm to our souls." Ex-guerilla, Colombia
Your contribution will take me closer to publishing Hope: How Yoga Heals the Scars of Trauma in Colombia.
